Mission Statement

The mission of the Collector is to execute the duties of the office in a professional, friendly and efficient manner. The duties of the Collector are many. The Collector will prepare and disseminate all real estate, personal property, and motor vehicle excise tax bills handed over by the Assessors as well as all water/sewer bills directed by the Board of Water and Sewer Commissioners in the manner described by MGL and do so in a timely fashion. The Collector will receive payments for the aforementioned bills, record such and hand over all funds to the Treasurer in a timely manner as well as submit a record of these transfers to the Accountant. Furthermore, the Collector will maintain accurate, permanent records of said payments. Lastly, the Collector will initiate legal action against persons or entities who do not pay said taxes and fees.
